The International Art Cinemas Confederation is glad to inform you that STILL LIFE by UBERTO PASOLINI won the CICAE ART CINEMA AWARD at the 70TH VENICE FILM FESTIVAL Venice, Italy (28th August– 7th September 2013, www.labiennale.org/it/cinema)
Synopsis of STILL LIFE:
STILL LIFE is a poignant tale of life, love and the afterlife. Meticulous and organized to the point of obsession, John May (Eddie Marsan) is a council worker charged with finding the next of kin of those who have died alone. When his department is downsized, John must up his efforts on his final case, taking him on a liberating journey that allows him to start living life at last.
Motivation of the CICAE jury :
« Out of a strong competition of 17 films the Cicae Jury chose unanimously STILL LIFE by Uberto Pasolini. The film tells the story of a public servant who gives dignity to people who die alone. Eddie Marsan gives convincing outstanding performance in playing this reserved insular man who shows us what life is worth living for. The jury is convinced that the universal subject and the remarkable cinematographic quality of this film will draw audiences to European arthouse cinemas across the borders. »
