LE QUATTRO VOLTE – Michelangelo Frammartino 2010

ART CINEMA AWARD – Pierre TODESCHINI // ANNECY CINEMA ITALIEN 2010

Synopsis: A poetic vision of the revolving cycles of life and nature and the unbroken traditions of a timeless place. The story of one soul that moves through four successive lives. An old shepherd lives his last days in a medieval village of Calabria. He is sick, and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor. A new goat kid is born, and makes its first tentative steps. Nearby, a majestic fir tree slowly changes through the seasons.

The verdict of the Jury

The Jury decided to award « LE QUATTRO VOLTE » of Michelangelo Frammartino for its nature both radical and universal. Indeed, besides its poetry, its main strength lies in the ability of the author to talk to all through a film “without words“.
