Europa Cinemas, one of the partners of our international training course for exhibitors, is joining forces for the first time with the Sevilla European Film Festival (7th to 15th November 2014) and sets up an “Audience Development & Innovation Lab”. In an increasingly dynamic and busy digital consumer context, what are the strategies that cinemas can adopt to remain vital spaces for their localities? We are clearly moving into an environment where audiences expect more from their investment of time and money whether it be live event driven, experiential, participatory, editorial, on and offline. How can cinema professionals think smartly and playfully to respond positively to the shifts in the way people experience and share content, building relevant brands and offers that are in tune with today’s audiences? Whilst it’s widely accepted that digital has fostered a proliferation of film making, watching and sharing, what are the practical business opportunities for cinema operators in this new environment?
Get insights from exhibitors that are piloting innovative audience development initiatives, live cinema events, meet experts of digital-social platforms enabling local communities to create their own screenings and discover pilot projects that are exploring the crossover potential between cinema exhibition and VoD platforms. Get inspiration from cinemas and festivals that are experimenting with new methods of sharing content and organisations that are developing new business models with a dynamic approach to place-making, brand-building and networking…
Taking place as part of the inspirational Sevilla European Film Festival, this seminar will be directed by Madeleine Probst (Producer, Watershed Media Centre, Bristol, Great-Britain) together with Jon Barrenechea (Project Development Manager, Picturehouse Cinemas, Great-Britain) and Ivo Andrle (Distributor, Exhibitor, Aerofilms, Czech Republic). This timely new lab invites a diverse range of exhibitors to come together with other sections of the industry to share knowledge and experiences and work collaboratively to turn today’s perceived challenges into business opportunities.
This seminar is open to all European exhibitors, members of Europa Cinemas network or not. The number of participants is limited to 40 people. Applications will be considered in the order they are received. However, priority will be given to exhibitors who never attended a Europa Cinemas Seminar before.
