CICAE OFF Jury awards “Malody”, short film in competition at the Circuito Off International Short Film Festival
CICAE’s jury awarded “Malody”, by Phillip Barker (Canada) at the 14th Circuito Off International Short Film Festival.
31st August 2013 – CICAE had the opportunity to award the CICAE OFF prize at the Circuito Off Short Film Festival taking place from the 28th to the 31st of august, in the new location of Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, in Campo S. Samuele, Venice.
The jury of 2013 edition was formed of 3 trainees of the 10th edition of “Art Cinema = Action + Management” training: Florentina Bratfanof (Romania), Kamile Janulyte (Lithuania) and Elisa Rosi (Italy).
The winning short film is “Malody”, by Phillip Barker (2012, Experimental, 12’10”, Color, Canada). Florentina Bratfanof said: “Malody is a beautiful experimental work playing constantly with our imagination, showing us other paths of discovering in ones misfortunes the truths of life, but also giving us the background picture of what means movie making”; Elisa Rosi added “The film Malody stood out among the others thanks to its appealing and disturbing images set in a powerful though daring narrative”.
The importance of this price is that it gives the opportunity also to outstanding short films to be screened and promoted in the art house cinemas network.
