“NAKED HARBOUR” BY AKU LOUHIMIES WINS THE ART CINEMA AWARD AT FESTROIA 2012
The CICAE is glad to announce that the ART CINEMA AWARD at THE FESTROIA FILM FESTIVAL 2012 has been given to NAKED HARBOUR (Finland, 2012, 123 min) by HAKU LOUHIMIES.
Synopsis : Naked Harbour is a film about Finnish love : it follows several parallel stories of characters facing something irreversible, on a one grey and cold winter week, in a quest to find love and acceptance. In a world where societies expectations are high, and the pressures of everyday life create a shroud of secrecy. This mosaic of characters is portraying people that are imperfect, weak and lost, but they are driven by the same need to be loved, seen and touched. People don’t see eye to eye and may hurt each other, but in the background, hope resides.
The Jury’s Verdict : The film Naked Harbour by Aku Louhimies shows seven parallel stories set in Finland with a strong universal dimension. These stories tell the lives of various people coming from different social backgrounds, with different nationalities and – more importantly – children with different ages who suffer from the lack of attention of their parents. The viewer feels their need to be considered, loved and touched, as well as what the actions they are ready to take to get some affection. It’s heartbreaking to see how these children become responsible for some adults. These stories impress with their originality and the unconventional manner with which they are told, leading to surprising twists in the plot.
