100th birthday of Jean Lescure

Friday the 14th of September, writer and CICAE’s former president Jean Lescure would have been 100 years old. Gabriele Röthemeyer, honorary president of CICAE, commemorates him.

“Jean Lescure was the youngest of all old men I met in my life. He had celebrated his 70th birthday, some years ago, when I had the amazing honour to become his successor: a veritable gift for me! Perhaps it was not easy at that moment but all the more worthwhile in the course of our meetings and conversations. And I still benefit from it today. It was also him who pursued courageously the CICAE, this post-war cultural idea. And of the same manner he was interested in the cinematographic art from all over the world. The true Parisian that he was carried the idea of this international confederation far beyond the borders. He who was born in the theatre that his parents had installed in their pub lived for the cinema and he keeps enthusing us.”
