Call for the release of the filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof
The Iranian movie director Mohammad Rasoulof, 2017’s winner of “Un Certain Regard” for his film “A Man of Integrity” has been forbidden to travel and work since September 2017. On 23rd of July he was sentenced to one year in prison, to be followed by two years of interdiction related to the undertaking of any social or political activity.
“Mohammad Rasoulof is an artist. It is absurd to accuse him of being a “national security threat” when his sole weapon is his palette of shadows and light.”
The International Confederation of Art Cinemas (CICAE) and the French Association of Art Cinemas (AFCAE) join the distributor Arp Sélection and the multiple voices worldwide to claim the immediate cancellation of Mohammad Rasoulof’s sentences.
We invite the CICAE and the AFCAE’s adherents to spread this call through an intertitle in your cinemas, available in PDF and in JPEG that you can download from the website of the AFCAE here.
