CICAE celebrates 10 years of International Training for Arthouse exhibitors

The International Training for Arthouse cinema professionals

Venice, San Servolo Island, 26th August – 1st September 2013

Monday 26th August 2013, CICAE will present the 10th International Training for Art house cinema professionals, within the framework of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, which will take place on the campus-island of San Servolo during the 70th Venice International Film Festival.

For the 10th anniversary of its successful and interactive training, CICAE has new aspects and developments to present. This year the training will include among the other partners, such as the Venice Film Festival, the renowned Venice Film Market, directed by Mr Pascal Diot. And what more important is the initiative of the VFM to get closer to the international exhibitors: Friday 30th August, the Market moves to San Servolo Island! Several sales agent will be on the island to present their promo reels and to take private appointments with all the exhibitors taking part to CICAE’s training.

The training will be divided into two categories: Juniors and Executives. 50 participants will take part in lectures, listen to case studies, hold debates and discussions, and take part to workshops. They will share their experiences with 30 international professional trainers: Alberto Barbera, the director of the Venice Film Festival; Pascal Diot, director of the Venice Film Market; Xavier Lardoux, the vice-president of UniFrance Films; Peter Dinges, the director of the Filmförderungsanstalt Deutschland; Patrice Vivancos from the MEDIA Program of the European Commission; Nicola Borrelli of the Direzione Generale per il Cinema (Italian Ministry of Culture); the German producer Alfred Hürmer; the founder and director of Film Europe Media Company, Ivan Hronec; Raymond Walravens, the president of Rialto Cinema; and the General Director of the Mexican Cineteca Nacional, Paula Astorga to name but a few.

20 Nationalities will be represented on the island: Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Slovakia, Slovenia and United Kingdom.

2 CICAE Juries will be involved in 2 festivals: the Venice Film Festival and the Circuito OFF, which will take place in the Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi.
