Film Exhibition in Europe: Issues, challenges and future prospects
International Conference, Paris 6 and 7 December 2011
This international conference will be held at the National Art History Institute (INHA) and will focus on the future of the film exhibition industry in Europe. We invite papers employing a variety of approaches (sociological, geographical, architectural, technological, economic, historical, etc.).(To download the program of the conference, please follow this link.)
Entry is free of charge for students, within the limit of available seating. Presentation of student card is required.

– 30 euros/ two days – 20 euros/ 1 day – 15 euros/ half a day
Cinemas in Europe today are not only dealing with a number of issues and challenges (such as new media and cultural practices, digital cinema rollout, alternative content, the shortening of release windows, etc.), they are also facing potential closure if they are unable to make the digital switchover. In this context, the conference is aiming to discuss European film exhibition in its various forms and in a comparative perspective.
The conference will be conducted in French and English.
