Synopsis
In the Bucharest Delta, an abandoned water reservoir in the middle of the wilderness, the Enache family has lived in perfect harmony with nature for twenty years. But when the area is converted to a national park, they are forced to give up their unconventional lifestyle and move to the city. As the family struggles to adjust to modern civilisation and maintain their ties and their identity, they begin to question their very existence.
Jury’s decision:
This prize rewards a surprising and remarkable documentary, which forcefully questions our vision of freedom, family, environment, as well as our relationship to society, to other people and to life choices… A film that provokes and incites us to question our certainties, to question what makes the human being, leaving in us a philosophical, poetic, deep and lasting trace.
The jury was composed of:
Alice Rabourdin (Cinémas Figuier Blanc & Jean Gabin, Ville d’Argenteuil, France)
Stéphanie Chayla (Cinéma Le Sélect, Antony, France)
Pierre-Alexandre Moreau (Cinémas Studio, Tours, France)
