The jury chose unanimously the film THE RIDER to receive the Art Cinema Award. A semi-documentary about the life and destiny of the rodeo rider and horse trainer Brady, THE RIDER explores themes and motives of the western genre. The film shows in an impressive manner that in spite of difficult conditions, in spite of beautiful but dangerous nature and of social plight, it is possible to live a life thanks to hope and solidarity. The film convinces notably thanks to its particular authenticity, which also comes from the fact that the amateur actors largely play their own story. The rather calm film shines in these moments when the spectator is very close to the protagonists.
The jury was composed of:
