LE QUATTRO VOLTE – Michelangelo Frammartino 2010

ART CINEMA AWARD – Pierre TODESCHINI // ANNECY CINEMA ITALIEN 2010

Synopsis: A poetic vision of the revolving cycles of life and nature and the unbroken traditions of a timeless place. The story of one soul that moves through four successive lives. An old shepherd lives his last days in a medieval village of Calabria. He is sick, and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor. A new goat kid is born, and makes its first tentative steps. Nearby, a majestic fir tree slowly changes through the seasons.

The verdict of the Jury

The Jury decided to award “LE QUATTRO VOLTE” of Michelangelo Frammartino for its nature both radical and universal. Indeed, besides its poetry, its main strength lies in the ability of the author to talk to all through a film “without words“.
