CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival is traditionally organized in September each year, in the heart of the biggest city in Northern Hungary. Since the first CineFest organized in 2004, it has become Hungary’s leading and most popular film festival. The aim is to introduce young film-making talents from all over the world and to provide an opportunity for them to present their work. Films compete in long feature and short films sections, and there is a special section, CineNewWave, for animation and short films exclusively by young filmmakers from Hungary. All films in competition are Hungarian premieres.
The festival’s mission is to mediate cinematographic values on an international level. To achieve this, it provides professional help to the upgrowing filmmaker generation, a meeting point for film professionals, and serve film-lovers with both new film premieres and historical cinematographic masterpieces. The Cinefest has more than 10 European partner festivals.

“The Cinefest Miskolc is a well organized festival where jurors are greatly taken care of. The choice of movies was sensible and of high quality. It’s very pleasant to discuss our opinions about movies. If I could, I would award my co-jurors Mrs Borsos and Mrs Wagner for their enlightened opinions!”
Florent Paris, jury 2017
