A look back at our special workshop for Arthouse Cinema Training alumni @ Berlinale 2023
• Training
CICAE organized during the Berlinale its first in-person workshop for former participants of the Arthouse Cinema Training. It was a great opportunity for the alumni community to get together and exchange experiences and best practices. The three topics discussed were internal and external communication, programming strategies for niche films and inclusion and accessibility in cinemas. The moderators of the workshops were: Deborah Shirley Cohrs (Germany), Alberto Valverde (Spain), Camilla Baier (Germany/United Kingdom), Natália Centková (Slovakia) and Irene Silvera Frischknecht (Spain/United Kingdom).
We were also pleased to welcome Louise Højgaard Johansen (Denmark/Czech Republic) to present her project "Sane Cinema" on mental health in the film industry. Discussions focused on the structural problems of the industry and the participants' solutions to regain balance in their professional lives. She rounded off the discussions by mentioning the "Mindfulness" workshops and the "Room of Stillness" at the Berlinale's European Film Market, which are the first of their kind within the major film industry markets.
The workshops were followed by a convivial reception allowing for free networking between alumni, organisers and training partners.
Many thanks to our workshop leaders and our funders for making this event possible: Creative Europe - MEDIA, FFA, CNC and MiC Direzione generale Cinema e Audiovisivo
