CICAE Panel at IND/EX 2026 Explores the Global Rise of Repertory Cinema

On 22 June, CICAE hosted a panel at Art House Convergence's Independent Film Exhibition Conference – IND/EX in Chicago, bringing together international experts to discuss the growing importance of repertory programming for independent cinemas.
Moderated by Sara Stevenson (German Film Office New York) and organised by CICAE managing director Dr Sebastian Naumann, the panel featured Dr Christian Bräuer (Yorck Kinogruppe, Germany), Marlena Gabryszewska (Stowarzyszenie Kin Studyjnych, Poland), and Peggy Johnson (The Loft Cinema, United States).
Titled An International Look at Repertoire and Independent Film Exhibition, the experts explored how repertory programming is attracting younger and first-time audiences around the world while strengthening the cultural role and long-term sustainability of independent cinemas. The panel also addressed current challenges facing the sector and highlighted initiatives that support the future of art house exhibition.
